Industrial Automation

Process monitoring, quality control, grinding, polishing, and machine tending in production environments.

Process Consistency at Scale

Grinding, polishing, deburring, and assembly operations drift with tool wear, part variability, and thermal changes. Without direct force feedback, quality depends on rigid fixturing and conservative programming — limiting throughput and flexibility. The AXIOM-2000 handles ±2,000 N on Fx/Fy and ±6,000 N on Fz with 0.100 N resolution, covering the process force range of most robotic grinding and deburring tasks while resolving the fine transitions that signal tool contact.

Sealed for Harsh Environments

IP67-rated construction survives the coolant, metal dust, and wash-down cycles of production cells without additional enclosures. Overload protection to ±6,000 N on Fx/Fy and ±18,000 N on Fz absorbs crashes without sensor failure. The -20 °C to +60 °C operating range covers foundry, automotive, and food-processing environments within a single sensor family.

Challenges

  • Tool wear shifts the effective cutting force at constant position commands; compensation requires real-time force feedback, not offline tool-life counters.
  • Production environments combine coolant, chips, and vibration — sensors that are not sealed to IP67 require protective enclosures that add compliance between the sensor and the process.
  • Press-fit and insertion operations must hit force-displacement signatures within part tolerance bands across thousands of cycles without recalibration.

Outcomes

  • Closed-loop force control on grinding and polishing tasks compensates for tool wear in real time, maintaining consistent surface finish across the full tool life.
  • IP67 sealing and mechanical overload protection eliminate sensor replacement as a maintenance item in coolant-heavy cells.
